About
Hello, I am Paul Garceau, a TEA certified teacher in 4th through 12th grade mathematics.
I have taught 6th grade honors math, 7th grade honors math, 8th grade math, and math intervention classes in the CFBISD and currently substitute in LISD. I have utilized both district curriculum and ‘Building Thinking Classrooms’ Peter Liljedahl methods to embrace a student discovery approach.
My specialty is 6-8th grade math concepts and I believe these are crucial years in skills development. During middle school, students will be introduced to more abstract concepts and need to take multiple steps to solve problems. Developing fluidity with procedures as well as higher order problem solving and thinking skills is essential for setting students up for success in high school and beyond.
I believe in the importance of students going beyond memorization and algorithms to understand why something works. Ultimately, this develops deeper knowledge, skills, and concepts to build upon in future years.
